2.4. Core competencies
Sep 19th, 2007 by leb3
The capacity to facilitate groups and to manage multistakeholder processes are two core competencies that landscape measurement initiatives will require.
Facilitation is a style of leadership that fosters participatory decision-making and creative problem-solving. Effective facilitation leads to lasting commitments by individuals to group processes and on-going innovation. A facilitative style of leadership is needed to manage a landscape assessment team, and for the team to manage broader stakeholder engagement processes. Resources on facilitation are available here.
Multistakeholder processes bring together all major stakeholders to develop partnerships and strengthen networks. Learning how to facilitate multistakeholder processes will give your team a solid foundation for its work in landscape assessment and monitoring. Resources on multi-stakeholder management are available here.
Additional Resources
Numerous methods have been developed to engage stakeholders in complex assessment and planning processes. A selection of additional resources that are readily accessible and applicable to landscape measurement and tracking are available here.
